THE PROGRAM
The aim of the program
The aim of the program is: (a) High-level postgraduate education, research and specialization for the production of new knowledge in modern fields of Hydraulic Engineering and the Environment, (b) The furtherance of scientific research conducted internationally in this field of science of Civil Engineer, (c) The creation of scientists – researchers who will have the ability and the necessary resources to produce independent and original scientific research and to offer specialized work, (d) To more effectively address the needs of the country in technical Civil Engineering projects in relation to hydraulic engineering and the environment, by producing specialized graduates with techniques and skills related to the planning and implementation of hydraulic, hydropower, port and coastal projects and water resources management projects.
There are three (3) Study Specializations.
The Specialization “Hydraulic Structures and Environment” aims to specialize students in the design, study, construction, maintenance and repair of Hydraulic Works with a strong environmental character.
The Specialization “Water Resources and Natural Disasters Management” aims at the specialization of students in the design, study, construction, maintenance and repair of Water Projects, related to water resource management, the hydrology of surface and underground waters, land reclamation, hydrodynamic, flood protection projects, mild forms of energy, natural disaster management.
The Specialization “Maritime Engineering and Environment” aims at the qualification of students in the design, study, construction, maintenance and repair of port projects, coastal protection and management projects of the coastal zone, static and dynamic analysis of marine structures, the management and configuration of land area of ports and marinas.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Graduates or diploma holders of all University Departments and Schools and Polytechnics of a relevant subject, holders of a 5-year or 4-year study degree at a local University or recognized as equivalent to a foreign one are accepted.
LANGUAGE OF TEACHING AND MASTER THESIS
Courses are taught in the Greek language, but it is possible to fully or partially structure the studies in the English language, when the number of foreign language postgraduate students per course exceeds five (5). The writing language of the Master’s Thesis is Greek and in special cases English.
DURATION OF STUDY AND CREDIT UNITS
The duration for the awarding of the Postgraduate Studies Diploma is defined in two (2) semesters and in the summer period (intensive program). The total number of credits (ECTS) required to obtain the Diploma, amounts to 75. For the awarding of the Graduate Diploma, attendance and a successful examination in a total of ten (10) six-month courses, each corresponding to in six (6) ECTS, as well as preparation and successful evaluation of the Diploma Thesis, which corresponds to fifteen (15) ECTS.
ΠΑΡΑΡΤΗΜΑ ΔΙΠΛΩΜΑΤΟΣ
Το ΠΜΣ «Υδραυλική Μηχανική και Περιβάλλον» από το ακαδημαϊκό έτος 2018-2019 χορηγεί στις/στους πτυχιούχους φοιτήτριες/-τές του Παράρτημα Διπλώματος στην ελληνική και αγγλική γλώσσα.
Το Παράρτημα Διπλώματος ακολουθεί το υπόδειγμα που ανέπτυξε η Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή, το Συμβούλιο της Ευρώπης και η UNESCO/CEPES. Στόχος του παραρτήματος είναι να παράσχει επαρκή ανεξάρτητα στοιχεία για τη βελτίωση της διεθνούς “διαφάνειας” και τη δίκαιη ακαδημαϊκή και επαγγελματική αναγνώριση των τίτλων σπουδών (διπλώματα, πτυχία, πιστοποιητικά κ.τ.λ.).
Σχεδιάστηκε για να δίνει περιγραφή της φύσης, του επιπέδου, του υπόβαθρου, του περιεχομένου και του καθεστώτος των σπουδών, οι οποίες ολοκληρώθηκαν με επιτυχία από το άτομο που αναγράφεται ονομαστικά στο πρωτότυπο του τίτλου, στο οποίο επισυνάπτεται αυτό το παράρτημα.

Για την υλοποίηση του Π.Μ.Σ. απασχολούνται 15 διδάσκοντες. Οι 6 από αυτούς είναι ενεργά μέλη Δ.Ε.Π. του Τομέα Υδραυλικών Έργων, άλλοι 7 είναι ενεργά μέλη Δ.Ε.Π., Ε.Δ.Π. και Ε.ΔΙ.Π. και ομότιμοι καθηγητές του Τμήματος Πολιτικών Μηχανικών, 1 μέλος ΔΕΠ προέρχεται από το Τμήμα Δασολογίας και Διαχείρισης Περιβάλλοντος και Φυσικών Πόρων του ΔΠΘ και 1 εξωτερικός συνεργάτης. Συνεπώς, το 87% των διδασκόντων προέρχεται από μέλη Δ.Ε.Π. και Ε.Ε.Π., Ε.Δ.Ι.Π., Ε.Δ.Π. και Ε.Τ.Ε.Π. του οικείου Τμήματος ή διδάσκοντες σύμφωνα με το π.δ. 407/1980 (Α’ 112) ή το άρθρο 19 του ν. 1404/1983 (Α’ 173) ή την παρ. 7 του άρθρου 29 του ν. 4009/2011.

Procedure for Selecting Entrants and Accepting Their Participation
The supporting documents mentioned in the Call for Expression of Interest must be submitted within the deadline, via email, as a pdf file to protocol@civil.duth.gr, with the subject: Application for the “Hydraulic Engineering and Environment” Program.
After the submission deadline, candidates may at the discretion of the evaluation committee be invited to a personal interview, which will be taken into account in the final selection. The selection of students is made as described in the Internal Operating Regulations of the Program.
