THE PROGRAM
Master program’s aim
The main objects of the Master program are: the prognosis, protection and response or mitigation of hydrometeorological disasters.
The aim of the program is: (a) The study of extreme weather and climate phenomena, such as floods, droughts, hurricanes, etc. (b) The promotion of scientific research carried out internationally in this field of Civil Engineering. (c) The establishment of scientists – researchers who will have the infrastructure and the necessary resources for the production of independent and original scientific research and for the supply of specialized work. (d) More effective response to the needs of the country in civil engineering works in relation to the response to hydrometeorological disasters, with the provision of specialized personnel for the study, analysis, design and management of these projects.
TARGET AUDIENCE
Graduates of all University Departments and Faculties and Technical Universities of a similar subject can be admitted to the Master Program.
LANGUAGE OF TEACHING AND MASTER THESIS
Courses are taught in the Greek language, but it is possible to fully or partially structure the studies in the English language, when the number of foreign language postgraduate students per course exceeds five (5). The writing language of the Master’s Thesis is Greek and in special cases English.
DURATION OF STUDY AND CREDIT UNITS
The duration for the award of the Master degree is set at two (2) semesters and in the summer period (intensive program). The award of the Master Degree requires the successful examination in the prescribed courses of the University of Athens. and the successful evaluation of Diploma Thesis.
The total number of credit units (ECTS) required to acquire the Master Degree is 75.

Για την υλοποίηση του Π.Μ.Σ. απασχολούνται 13 διδάσκοντες. Οι 6 από αυτούς είναι ενεργά μέλη Δ.Ε.Π. του Τομέα Υδραυλικών Έργων, άλλοι 7 είναι ενεργά μέλη Δ.Ε.Π., Ε.Δ.Π. και Ε.ΔΙ.Π. και ομότιμοι καθηγητές του Τμήματος Πολιτικών Μηχανικών, 1 μέλος ΔΕΠ προέρχεται από το Τμήμα Δασολογίας και Διαχείρισης Περιβάλλοντος και Φυσικών Πόρων του ΔΠΘ και 1 εξωτερικός συνεργάτης. Συνεπώς, το 87% των διδασκόντων προέρχεται από μέλη Δ.Ε.Π. και Ε.Ε.Π., Ε.Δ.Ι.Π., Ε.Δ.Π. και Ε.Τ.Ε.Π. του οικείου Τμήματος ή διδάσκοντες σύμφωνα με το π.δ. 407/1980 (Α’ 112) ή το άρθρο 19 του ν. 1404/1983 (Α’ 173) ή την παρ. 7 του άρθρου 29 του ν. 4009/2011.

CANDIDATES
Procedure for Selecting Entrants and Accepting Their Participation
The supporting documents mentioned in the Call for Expression of Interest must be submitted within the deadline, via email, as a pdf file to protocol@civil.duth.gr, with the subject: Application for the HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISASTERS MANAGEMENT.
After the submission deadline, candidates may at the discretion of the evaluation committee be invited to a personal interview, which will be taken into account in the final selection. The selection of students is made as described in the Internal Operating Regulations of the Program.
